Tropical forest projects

Protective Wall - Rempart

In collaboration with Madagascar Fauna Group

The project aims to better guarantee protection in Betampona, a 30 km2 rainforest reserve in Madagascar. The relatively small but important rainforest reserve due to its high biodiversity is threatened by the illegal collection of plants and parts of plants as well as by cutting of wood.
MFG has set itself the goal of reforesting a large buffer zone around the reserve. This should better protect the reserve and at the same time bring the local population to useable forest areas. The project includes the construction of five tree nurseries, planting campaigns with the seven surrounding communities and comprehensive environmental education for the residents.
